Can you believe it’s been four years since I DON’T KNOW HOW, BUT THEY FOUND ME dropped their first album, Razzmatazz? Dallon Weekes, who used to be in PANIC! AT THE DISCO put this album together, and it showed that he was the driving force behind what made that band so much fun before Brendan Urie took over as the frontman.

Weekes is back with a new album called ‘Gloom Division,’ an impressive collection of infectious indie pop/emo bangers. Weekes has shown exceptional talent by blending dark lyrics with a catchy, upbeat tune. The album features 12 tracks, and each one of them showcases Weekes’ talent and creativity. Gloom Division is an album that you will undoubtedly want to listen to over and over again. It wouldn’t be surprising if “Gloom Division” ends up on many Album of the Year (AOTY) lists, as fans say it is a true masterpiece that deserves recognition. It is easy to see why this album will be a hit among fans, as the songs will surely be incredible when performed live. Weekes’ ability to captivate the audience with his music and showmanship is evident throughout the album.

The striking album artwork captures the essence of the vocalist’s mood. It portrays the artist sitting on a brightly coloured wall, donning a formal suit. However, the forlorn look on their faces and the ink stains on their feet seem to suggest a deeper, more complex narrative. The colourful setting contrasts with the melancholic expression of the singer, creating a thought-provoking and intriguing image that invites the viewer to contemplate its meaning.

Tracks And Features

The album opens with Downside, setting the tone for what is to come, almost like the opening to a musical masterpiece. Gloomtown Rats is easily one of the best songs on the album, with a sumptuous bass line that opens up the song. As you navigate through the album, the crooning and 80s-infused styles remain apparent, with some songs offering something a bit different, making them stand out in all the best ways.

SPKOTHDVL is an absolute belter of a tune, showing off Weekes’ excellent bass skills with yet another bass line that hooks you from the start, while the bluesy guitar riff matches the bass lines and creates a mischievous sound that will have you tapping your foot or snapping your fingers along in no time.

Satanic Panic is the best song on the whole record, with a wonderful bounce to it that showcases the band at their musical best. The distorted bass and impressive drumming create a fantastic groove to the song, and it’s all backed up by a cheeky saxophone, making the track about five times better. The album concludes with Idiots of Oz, and the reverberating sound brings the listening experience to a climactic end. The vocalist reminds detractors that he doesn’t care what they think, encouraging listeners to embrace their authentic selves and not be weighed down by the opinions of others.

Album Summary

“Gloom Division” is an exceptional album set to take IDKHOW’s music career to the next level. While their previous album, “Razzmatazz,” was great in its own right, “Gloom Division” clearly demonstrates Weekes’ charismatic talent and true showmanship. The entire album oozes with his creativity, showcasing his ability to create a fun and upbeat atmosphere, even when dealing with dark lyrical themes that echo his mind. The album is a perfect blend of Weekes’ unique style and his incredible showmanship. Each song is crafted precisely, making it stand out as something extraordinary. The lyrics of the songs can be pretty dark. Still, the upbeat nature of the music itself creates a perfect balance, ensuring that the listeners remain engaged and entertained throughout the album.

This album is gonna be a hit among fans for sure! The songs are so incredible that they will surely be a treat when performed live. Weekes’ ability to captivate the audience with his music and showmanship is evident throughout the album. It wouldn’t be surprising if “Gloom Division” ends up on top of the charts for 2024, as fans say it’s a true masterpiece that deserves recognition.
