ID Cabasa Opens Up On Why He Fell Out With 9ice

Olumide Ogunade, better known as ID Cabasa, a well-known Nigerian producer, has finally revealed why he split up with his former signee, 9ice, about 14 years ago. Cabasa claimed 9ice was upset by his choice to continue working with the latter’s ex-wife, Toni Seun Payne, in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo. Cabasa believed in maintaining professional relationships and saw potential in working with Toni Seun Payne, especially for 9ice’s sake. He explained that his decision was purely based on the music and related to the personal issues between 9ice and his ex-wife.

Payne oversaw the artists signed to Cabasa’s Coded Tunes Record, featuring rapper Olamide and her then-ex-husband 9ice. After the couple’s messy breakup, Cabasa kept working with Payne, which did not sit well with 9ice, who ultimately severed ties with the producer. This decision led to a strained relationship between 9ice and Cabasa, as 9ice felt betrayed by his longtime collaborator’s choice to continue working with Payne. The producer said he kept Payne on his team because of 9ice and did it for his family.
