Wurld Opens Up On Why He Gave Davido “Blow My Mind”

Netizens have been responding to the news that Sadiq Onifade, a Nigerian singer-songwriter known as WurlD, wrote Davido’s famous song “Blow My Mind.” According to reports, WurlD claimed to have given the song to Davido “willingly” but didn’t mention whether it was sold. The song, which later featured American R&B singer Chris Brown, was allegedly written by WurlD in 2019.

The song came into social media conversations again as his version of the hit single trended on Twitter and had rave reactions. In a recent interview with Cool FM’s Tacha, WurlD stated that he donated the music to the duo since he “didn’t have a use for the song at the time.”

He said,

“It [giving ‘Blow My Mind’ to Davido] wasn’t planned. I was in Lagos promoting my project, ‘Love Is Contagious’, and I got a call from my guy, producer Shizzi… It was even one of those things I didn’t plan for because I was gonna use the song myself. I wanted to get some features on the record, but I was promoting a new project, and I didn’t have time.

“I didn’t have a use for ‘Blow My Mind’ at that time. Davido and Chris Brown, it’s just a beautiful thing to lend my art with another artiste and at the same time and see how well the song is done.”
