Lil Nas X Comes Under Scrutiny Following “J. Christ” Release As Fans Make Kendrick Lamar-Hit Links

On Friday, January 12, Lil Nas X released his highly controversial single “J Christ,” co-produced by Gesaffelstein and Omer Fedi. The song has a baseline that has sparked some controversy among fans who believe it sounds similar to Kendrick Lamar’s 2017 hit “HUMBLE,” which was produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and Pluss. In the music video for “J Christ,” Lil Nas X portrays Jesus Christ on the cross, as well as Moses and Noah. He also plays basketball against Satan in the video. The religious-themed visual also features celebrity impersonators dressed as Kanye West, Barack Obama, Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, and others, and even ends with a bible quotation about salvation.

Lil Nas X’s latest release has also stirred up a great deal of conversation on social media. Critics have continued to lambast the singer for his antics, with many calling the new single a “disrespect” to religion. Despite this, Lil Nas X himself has stated that he is in his “Christian era” and disagrees with the allegations.  The debate has not stopped the song from gaining popularity, with many fans praising Lil Nas X for his boldness and creativity. The song has been trending on social media, with many users sharing their thoughts on the artist’s latest release.
