“Margot & Greta Deserved Oscar Nominations” Says Lady Who Inspired ‘Barbie’
There has been much discussion about Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig’s snub at the Oscars Academy Award nominations, and the woman who inspired the name of the Barbie doll also has a lot to say about the latest 2024 nominations. She finds the slights and snubs surprising and confusing. Barbara Handler tells media house TMZ that she watched the “Barbie” movie twice and enjoyed it even more the second time. She also feels that Margot and Greta should be nominated for Oscars. Like everyone else on social media, Barbara is furious about the snubs.
Even though “Barbie” received a Best Picture nomination, many people are disappointed that Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie did not receive Best Actress or Best Director nominations, respectively. Barbara, the daughter of the woman who made Barbie and Ken dolls, believes that Margot and Greta should be acknowledged for their contributions to the film. Even though the film was not included in the major award categories, she thinks it was a great film that should have won anyway. Barbara argues that Greta Gerwig’s direction brought a fresh and innovative perspective to the story, while Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Barbie was captivating and nuanced. She believes their snub in the nominations is a missed opportunity to recognize their exceptional talent and impact on the film’s success.
Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, who acted in “Barbie,” were nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress. It is already known that even though the film is well-liked and sells well at the box office, the Academy doesn’t always give out prizes for films that meet these standards and have their own criteria for award nominations.
Sadly, Barbara’s mother has passed away, but she would have been overjoyed to see “Barbie” nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
