NLE Choppa Unveils New Single, “Smokin On Them”

The Latest Release Samples Gotye’s 2012 Hit, Accompanied by a Unique Music Video with a Twist of Nostalgia

In a recent development in the music industry, renowned artist NLE Choppa has made a comeback with his latest single, “SMOKIN ON THEM.” This new track uniquely samples the well-known 2012 hit by Gotye, “Somebody That I Used To Know,” blending it with Choppa’s dynamic rap style. The song is a creative reinterpretation that emphasizes Choppa’s rapid lyrical delivery while maintaining the original’s catchy beat and distinct guitar riffs.

Lyrically, Choppa delves into his journey, reflecting on his rise to fame and the challenges that have come with it. The lyrics, “Come on, now we in them tennis suburbs, pullin’ up in all black just for the Glock to match her purse,” and “I was 13, runnin’ around like a Rugrat — I’m tryna numb all the pain, where the drugs at?” portray a blend of his personal experiences and reflections.

The release is accompanied by a music video that plays on the original Gotye video, featuring Choppa with body paint in various whimsical scenes. The video combines surreal moments and interactions with models, showcasing Choppa’s humorous side. This video is available for viewing on major platforms.

Besides “SMOKIN ON THEM,” NLE Choppa has also released a video for “PISTOL PACCIN,” collaborating with the emerging Texas artist BigXThaPlug. Additionally, following the success of “Shotta Flow 7,” Choppa has expanded his 2023 project, Cottonwood 2, with a deluxe version named Cottonwood 2: Deluxe 2.0. This extended release includes nine new tracks, offering a comprehensive look at the artist’s recent work.

Fans can access “SMOKIN ON THEM” and the rest of Choppa’s music through NLE Entertainment and Warner Records.
