Regarding the matter of artists attempting to break free from the label of “Afrobeats,” one of the most well-known R&B singers in Nigeria, Ric Hassani, said that although he has never felt constrained, some artists believe that the label of “Afrobeats” has boxed them in, and this may be the driving force behind their decision to break free from the term that encompasses Nigerian pop music.
