Kannywood Film Director, Aminu Bono, Has Passed On
The Kannywood film industry mourns the loss of acclaimed filmmaker Aminu Bono, who went away abruptly on Monday, with deep sadness. According to reports, Aminu collapsed without warning and was immediately whisked away to the hospital, where doctors sadly confirmed his premature passing.
The deceased will be buried on Tuesday in accordance with Muslim tradition. Confirming the Bono’s demise was Actor Ali Nuhu, who on Monday night shared a tribute post on Instagram.
Thanks to his contributions to the Kannywood film business, Aminu Bono has left a legacy that will never stop inspiring filmmakers. Some of the director’s colleagues claim that his unexpected passing shocked not just them but also Kannywood and the entertainment industry as a whole.
Born in the historic city of Kano, the late Aminu Siraj Bono kicked off his acting career in the Kannywood film business with the 2017 feature Agola, which he both directed and produced. According to reports, he is one of the few filmmakers who has also been heavily impactful as a young actor and director in the Hausa film business, commonly known as Kannywood.
He received numerous nominations, including Arewa Creative Industry Awards and the 2016 Kannywood Awards’ Best Director category. Among the numerous movies that Bono has directed are “Mai Numfashi” (2017), “Bazura Sudan” (2018), and “So Haduwar Jini” (2019).
