Seal Marks The 30th Anniversary Of His Self-Titled Album With An Expanded Edition

Expanding upon the phenomenal success of his 1991 debut album, Seal achieved even greater success in 1994 with his follow-up album of the same name, which included the global hit song “Kiss From A Rose.” To celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary, Rhino will produce a deluxe edition that features previously unheard tracks added to a freshly restored version of the original.

On June 14th, Seal (Deluxe Edition) will be available in a number of forms. Only at Barnes & Noble will a two-LP edition be offered on “Milky White” and black vinyl. Exclusive Dolby Atmos and PCM 24/96 High Resolution Stereo mixes of the album will be available on a 2 CD/Blu-ray format. Released in May 1994, Seal (also referred to as Seal II) featured the artist’s unique fusion of pop, dance, and soul music.

Trevor Horn produced the album, which consists of 11 tracks, some of which are standouts such as “Prayer For The Dying,” “Bring It On,” which features Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, and the duet “If I Could,” which features the legendary Joni Mitchell. Seal debuted at No. 15 in the US and at the top of the UK album chart. It received four platinum certifications in the US.

With its appearance in the summer of 1995’s Batman Forever, “Kiss From A Rose” shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and brought Seal three Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
