To the surprise of his ardent admirers, Lucki has returned with his latest album, “s*x m*ney dr*gs.” The project comes after his 2022 release Flawless Like Me. On his Instagram page, the Chicago rapper teased fans about the album.

Lucki is recognized for his downtempo flows, thus hypnotic productions are constantly present. That certainly comes through in this record, and we feel audiences will appreciate the audio aesthetics. Furthermore, there is only one feature here, which comes from emerging sensation Veeze. With the new album, Lucki’s fans will be well-fed.

The album cover art features a scantily clad model in the driver’s seat of a black ride that has its car door left open. The vixen somberly stares down at the fur-covered steering wheel, like one lost in thought or awaiting the arrival of something or someone.

Tracks and Features

With its twangy trap approach and boasting that he bossed over a city girl, “Tunevert” is a strong opening created by YSL Records in-house producer Taurus, while “No Bap” takes a cloudier route and talks about being so geeked up. Rio Levya, the producer of Internet Money Records, gives “Super Ski” some synths and hi-hats while also calling his girl “slimey.” However, “Gemini Love” has a more shimmering trap vibe and talks about a girl who moves clumsily but still maintains her shape.

Cash Cobain’s plugg beat on “2021 Vibes” was a surprise given his sample drill roots and Lucki’s well-placed flows, which included phrases like “Bentley’s talkin’ to myself, Ghazi said it’s sendin’ help.” Then, over a peppy, hazy trap music, “Mubu” mentions that he sealed the deal with a seal in hand. Following which, “Almighty Tune” combines these conceited horns and hi-hats while claiming that he has numerous hoes who shop for various outfits.

While “Purple Heart Ski” has these trippy guitar parts as well as claps & hi-hats informing the world that you can get it like him if you’re patient, “Str8 Syrup” has a dismal trap sound so Luc may pour 4 to make it feel like ecstasy. With an operatic vocal sample, hi-hats, and a booming bass line, in “Karma a Bitch” admits that he must lead the way, and “Pop Star” stands out from the beat’s futuristically vast backdrop.

Veeze makes the only guest appearance on the album on “Wholeworldslatt,” teaming up with Luc to prove to everyone how slimy they both are and that they fit in. Another favorite song off the album is “Bby Pluto,” which pays homage to Future while Tay Keith & Cubeatz experiment with rock guitars and trillwave elements.

“Chrome Denim,” the album’s last tune, is a trap banger with bells and synths that talks about still being overly geeked, and “New York,” the album’s final track, reveals that he was high on drugs in a S 580 as he was recording. Not sure why we needed to know that.
