Juliana Morayo Balogun, Wizkid’s mother, died on August 18 in London and was laid to rest on Friday, October 13, following a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (City of David) on Victoria Island.

Wizkid expressed his anguish during the wake and tribute service on Thursday, October 12, at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino, Victoria Island, Lagos, saying it was the greatest pain he had ever encountered.

However, the sad circumstance did not prevent more wins from coming to the Starboy, as his songs just received certified status in faraway Belgium! Made in Lagos, Essence, and Joro have all gained Gold status in Belgium, demonstrating the Nigerian superstar’s enormous popularity and impact.

The Belgian certificates attest to the artist’s expanding international popularity. With 10,000 units sold, Wizkid’s Made in Lagos gained Gold status, while Essence and Joro both hit Gold status with a staggering 20,000 units sold each.
