Mariah Carey Set To Play A Las Vegas Residency, ‘The Celebration Of Mimi,’ In April

All rise for the legendary Mariah Carey!

The pop star and R&B queen will perform eight shows at the Park MGM Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas this April, as reported by the star on her social media. The series is called ‘The Celebration of Mimi’ and pays tribute to her 2005 comeback album ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. The concerts will include popular songs from the album and other hits from Carey’s extensive music career. The shows are scheduled for April 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 24, 26, and 27 at the Dolby Live venue in Park MGM. More information and ticket details are available on the official website.

At the 2006 Grammy Awards, ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ won the Best Contemporary R&B Album award, with ‘We Belong Together’ also winning in the Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance categories. Since ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’, Carey has released five more studio albums, including ‘E=MC2’ in 2008 and ‘Caution’ in 2018. She has also performed in Vegas residencies, including ‘#1 To Infinity’ from 2015 to 2017 and ‘The Butterfly Returns’ from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, Carey performed Christmas-themed shows at Caesars Palace in December 2017 and 2019. ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ was Carey’s 10th studio album, released in April 2005. The album was commercially and critically successful, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and selling over 400,000 copies in its first week alone. It was also named the best-selling album in the United States in 2005.
