Rema’s “Calm Down” Garners Over 700 Million YouTube Views

Rema consistently pulls off the seemingly impossible. The one billion view mark is getting closer for Rema’s “Calm Down” music video, which stars pop diva Selena Gomez. Rema first made “Calm Down” available through his “Rave & Roses” monster debut album. Then, to make a remix of the song, the American singer Selena Gomez and the Nigerian superstar worked together.

The number of spectacular collaborations between Nigerian and international musicians have been on the rise with “Calm Down” being one of the largest exports of Afrobeats, having topped various charts across many countries and setting and breaking impressive records.

Over a year ago the music video was released and a year later it’s still shaking things up, as it has continually received praise from Ravers across the world ever since. The “Calm Down” remix music video has now received over 700 million views on YouTube, setting it on course to one billion views. This is an insane accomplishment for the Rave Lorde as he has become the only Afrobeats artist in history to reach this mark.

The popular song also made history by being the first-ever duet to appear on the Billboard Pop Songs airplay list and remain for more than a full year. Like that isn’t enough, Rema recently performed the same hit song at the 2023 Ballon d’Or Award ceremony, further cementing his status as the reigning Afrobeats finest export.
