SchoolBoy Q Says He Will Not Leave Record Label TDE Ahead Of ‘Blue Lips’ Album Release

California rapper ScHoolboy Q has made it clear that he has no plans to leave Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), the label with which he has built his career. He confirmed this on Twitter when a fan asked if his latest album, “Blue Lips,” would be his last with TDE. Q replied confidently, “Never leaving.” He also promoted his website and shared the latest music video for “Yearn 101” from his upcoming album, “Blue Lips,” featuring a guest verse from Freddie Gibbs, which will have 17 tracks and be released on March 1.

Fans had reason to ask this question due to rumours of tensions within TDE following Kendrick Lamar’s departure from the label in 2021. Fellow TDE rapper Jay Rock had to clear the air, and Kendrick himself announced on his website that his 2022 release, “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,” would be his final one on the label. Kendrick Lamar launched his imprint with his longtime manager and creative collaborator, Dave Free. TDE fans became increasingly frustrated by the imprint’s inactivity during this time. Criticism intensified during the summer when Reason publicly called out the label for dropping the ball on his latest album, “Porches.”
