Snoop Dogg Reveals He Has A Joint Album With Dave East

Hip-hop fans have been reacting to the news that Dave East and Snoop have a project. According to Snoop Dogg, he had an entire album with Dave East that was never published. He also hinted that the album was canceled because the label wasn’t fully satisfied. On Wednesday, January 24, Snoop’s YouTube series GGN featured a talk with Benny the Butcher, during which the revelation was made. Benny The Butcher was signed by Snoop, who became an executive consultant for Def Jam in 2021.

The Doggfather mentioned instrumentals by Pharrell and Swizz Beatz that were sent to artists like Jay-Z, Nas, and DMX during the chat, and he acknowledged that there were a few tracks he wished he had “murked” back in his prime. Snoop revealed the details of his abandoned album with the Harlem rapper East after Benny made a joke about pressing Harry Fraud, the producer of his 2021 project The Plugs I Met 2, about beats he delivered to Dave East.

Even though Snoop Dogg and Dave East’s collaborative album may never be released, they had the opportunity to collaborate in 2021 when the legendary West Coast rapper released his album The Algorithm. East collaborated with Fabolous on the song “Make Some Money,” which was produced by Hi-Tek. The music video for the song was released soon after the album. In the vibrant video, the three rappers were seen slaying their rhymes while rocking stylish ensembles in front of a gallery’s worth of paintings. Shedding some light on the scrapped project and Dave East, Snoop said,

“I’m a product of Hip Hop so that’s the Hip Hop that I’m more drawn to. It was years ago when I went to New York to fuck with Dave East, before I was in the Def Jam building, just because I love how he get down,”

“We went through Harlem and I was fuckin’ with him. We did a whole project that was just like the shit that [Griselda] do. And then the label stepped in and was like, ‘Nah, we’re gonna do [this instead] .”
