Wizkid Supports Davido’s “Timeless” Album, Calls for Fans to Stream the Record

In an unexpected display of camaraderie, Nigerian superstar Ayodeji Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, has endorsed fellow musician Davido’s new album, “Timeless.” Wizkid encouraged his followers to stream Davido’s album on Friday via Instagram and Twitter.

Already generating waves, “Timeless” has amassed one million streams on Boomplay in less than six hours after its release. The album currently leads the charts in Apple Music in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and 17 other countries.

Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, announced the release of the 17-track album early on Friday morning via his social media profiles. This is the first time since 2011 that Wizkid has publicly supported Davido’s work, possibly signaling the end of a long-standing rivalry between the two artists and their admirers.Wizkid Supports Davido'S &Quot;Timeless&Quot; Album, Calls For Fans To Stream The Record, Yours Truly, News, April 27, 2024

In a message accompanying the album’s release, Davido thanked his fans and loved ones for their support, saying, “I don’t know what follows next, but I wanted to give you my heart, soul, and energy.

In the Nigerian music industry, Wizkid’s endorsement of “Timeless” is a rare example of unity. Previously viewed as competitors, the two artists appear to be altering their focus from competition to career support.Wizkid Supports Davido'S &Quot;Timeless&Quot; Album, Calls For Fans To Stream The Record, Yours Truly, News, April 27, 2024

Following the unfortunate death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi, Wizkid’s interactions with his fellow musician have become more considerate. His support of “Timeless” may also be an attempt to promote his own album, “More Love, Less Ego.”

Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Musa Keys, Focalistic, FAVE, The Cavemen, Dexta Daps, and DMW 2.0 imprint signees Logos Olori and Morravey make guest appearances on the 17-track “Timeless” album.

As Wizkid and Davido continue to garner global attention, their admirers can anticipate more collaborations, including a joint tour scheduled to follow Wizkid’s “More Love, Less Ego” tour. With Wizkid’s endorsement of “Timeless,” the two artists’ long-standing rivalry may eventually be put to rest, allowing for even more creative collaboration and growth within the Nigerian music scene.
