Dogara And Keyamo Are At Odds Over Buhari’s Support For Tinubu

Political rivals appear to be engaged in a verbal battle due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent pledge of support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. At a presidential campaign event in Lafia, Nasarawa State, the President made it clear that he was prepared to actively support the former governor of Lagos State in the next elections. However, Festus Keyamo, spokesman for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, and Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, got into a verbal altercation on Sunday over the President’s endorsement of Bola Tinubu, an APC presidential contender.

Buhari called Tinubu a Nigerian who would give his all for Nigeria in a tweet on his official Twitter account. However, Yakubu Dogara, a former House of Representatives speaker, responded to the news on Twitter on Sunday and called the President’s support of Tinubu a joke. Dogara argued that given the former governor of Lagos State’s alleged involvement in criminal activity and dubious past, Nigeria doesn’t deserve him as President.

He wrote: “I know that PMB loves to crack jokes but I didn’t know he will escalate it to the level of satire. Asiwaju’ll give his best to Nigeria, really? Fake certificates, fake parentage, golden triangle escapades, racketeering. No PMB, Nigeria does not deserve his best but we get the satire.”

In a tweet responding to Dogara’s remark, Keyamo attacked the former speaker and called him a political prostitute. In response, Dogara chastised Keyamo for making an unfounded accusation and added that the minister lacked his political acumen.
