Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” Awarded Gold Status In The UK

Burna Boy’s sixth album, “Love, Damini,” has added another accomplishment by receiving a silver certification in the UK. The UK certification organization, the Brits Awards, announced on its official Twitter page on February 10th, 2023, that “Love, Damini” had been awarded silver status in the country. This is yet another enormous step for the Nigerian megastar, who is leading the charge in introducing African and Nigerian music to the rest of the world.

Burna Boy’s sixth album, “Love, Damini,” was released in July 2022 and featured the worldwide hit song “Last Last,” which peaked at No. 4 on the UK Official Singles chart. Additionally, it produced the songs “Cloak & Dagger” with British rapper J Hus and “For Your Hand” with British megastar Ed Sheeran. These singles help Burna Boy receive a silver certification along with songs like “Common Person,” “Vanilla,” and “Different Size,” with fast-rising Nigerian act Victony.

Burna Boy received two Grammy nominations for best international music and best global song performance even though “Love, Damini” received mixed reviews from critics. Sadly, he failed to bag the award in the categories for which he was nominated. However, Burna Boy is now aiming for a platinum plaque to maintain his position as one of Africa’s top music exports after receiving this Brit gold plaque.
