N500M Lawsuit: Naira Marley Sues Iyabo Ojo For Defamation
Nigerian rapper Afeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against actress Iyabo Ojo. In the lawsuit, Naira Marley seeks damages for five hundred million naira (document number 1). The lawsuit claims that Iyabo Ojo’s Instagram account disseminated false and harmful content about Naira Marley. Olalekan Ojo (SAN) & Co., Naira Marley’s attorney, has demanded a public apology from Iyabo. The attorney also stated that the “false content” shared by Iyabo Ojo has caused significant damage to Naira Marley’s reputation and career. The letter further noted that if the requested damages and public apology were not provided within a specified timeframe, legal action would be taken against the actress.
Naira Marley’s attorney sent a letter to actress Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of making malicious and unfounded accusations against his client on Instagram. The letter stated that Iyabo had claimed that Naira Marley had engaged in both spiritual and physical activities with the late musician Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, in a post she made in September 2023, the same month Mohbad passed away. The letter went on to say that Iyabo Ojo had also accused Naira Marley of mentally torturing Mohbad. In response, Naira Marley’s lawyer demanded that Iyabo Ojo issue a public apology to his client on her official Instagram account and in a national daily within seven days of receiving the letter. If she fails to comply, the letter threatens that Naira Marley will file a lawsuit against her and seek damages of N500 million from the actress.
