Rod Wave Taken Into Custody On Weapons Charges

American rapper, Rod Wave has been arrested for carrying ammunition or a weapon in Manatee County, Florida on Wednesday, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The rapper and singer whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was detained, according to the police, on suspicion of being involved in a gang-related shooting in Florida that left four people hurt. It was said that on March 31, late at night, there was an altercation.

According to a statement from Petersburg police, gunfire broke out between what looked to be a group of guys having a verbal altercation. The casualties included a 17-year-old girl and three males in their 20s, all of whom had non-life-threatening wounds.

After being arrested, Rod was sent to the Manatee County Jail, where he was listed as a convicted felon—a claim his lawyers have since made in an open letter posted on social media. They deny Rod owned a firearm as well. This wouldn’t be the rapper’s first stint with the law, as he was taken into custody in 2022 on unrelated accusations of domestic abuse after reportedly strangling his ex-girlfriend.

However, in the same year, he published “Beautiful Mind,” his second album that peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, and “Nostalgia,” his follow-up, in 2023. The latter spent two weeks at No. 1 and featured a feature from 21 Savage on the song “Turks & Caicos.”
